Botanic Wall is a series of custom light walls designed for Mexican restaurant Popocatepetl as part of their new identity. The installation stretches out over the entire width of a wall. Resembling a wall-sized window, it creates the illusion of a jungle behind it. Not only does Botanic Wall employ an optical trick, expanding the small space it’s situated in, it also creates mystical scenery. The lights change through real-time programming. Over the course of a meal, day flows into night, lines between the real and the fake blur and moods shift. Is it a projection? An indoor greenhouse? The work creates suspense and provokes curiosity, as nobody really knows what he or she is looking at.
